    I am #missingthepub because

The pub that I ran was my life, the friends, the people, the community, the vibrant life that pub was, I have lived on and off in the same place for forty five years boy and man and I for one will miss it, my life my business. The favourite beer was not a local from where I lived it was Butcombe Gold. I will not be going into these eatery over commercialised so called places, that’s not a pub to me.

    I am #missingthepub because

you can’t recreate at home the atmosphere of a well-run pub serving top quality beer. That atmosphere includes interacting with long-standing friends, the good-natured conversations with strangers and even putting up with the pub bore! As good as some bottles, cans and mini casks are, you can’t beat top quality cask beer and the pub is the best place to savour it!

    I am #missingthepub because

It provides a wonderful place to relax at the end of a very hard working week, with fantastic food, great service and a lovely atmosphere. My heart is breaking for all the hard working staff who suffer the devastation of not working when they want and need to be, the many who have lost their jobs from deliberate & targeted & completely unwarranted action from the government; and the desperate and lonely people who find companionship in the pub. Can't wait to get back to the many wonderful pubs we have in Nidderdale, an area of outstanding natural beauty in North Yorkshire.

    I am #missingthepub because

I love standing at the bar and ordering a pint of great quality cask beer in like minded company. I miss the smell and noise as you walk through the door and the buzz of life. Open the pubs now! My photo is of an empty Grey Horse in Manchester complete with Christmas lights that never saw Christmas. First pint will probably be in the Bobbin in Leigh.

    I am #missingthepub because

It’s pretty much the only place where bin collectors run shoulders with barristers at the bar. In the pub, everyone is equal, and everyone is part of a bigger whole. Pub goers enter as strangers and leave as friends. All of life’s ups and downs are best marked in the warm embrace of a cosy community pub.

    I am #missingthepub because

I miss my job!! The people I work with are fantastic people. My boss is under huge amounts of stress despite us doing everything above and beyond requirements and yet here we are - not open. Still!! I miss my regulars, the ones who make you smile, the elderly who come in for lunch who are so happy to see you and have a chat. I miss being busy and happy and exhausted at the end of the day! I miss the big events, the joy, the social connections and learning something new everyday and I miss the laughs and the banter and the fun. I even miss the complaints, which although rare, I take pride in rectifying! And I certainly miss my finances being secure!

    I am #missingthepub because

I hugely miss socialising with family and friends, eating and drinking and listening to live music. I miss the buzz of the pub and seeing familiar faces and chatting. Pubs are the hub of the community and has been hugely missed over the past year.

    Swanley

    I am #missingthepub because

I am a single parent. I get one night a week where I go to my fantasic local ,The Cottonmill in Swanley. When I am there I am having a laugh and telling anecdotes about fun testing situations from my life, that have turned out well. During this decimation of the pub industry, I have suffered with my mental health and only just realised it is quite largely due to the lack of interaction and reliving of good times.

    I am #missingthepub because

As an ex pat, I look forward to going to the pub more than anything on my visits back to England. Whether or not I am an ex pat is essentially not relevant here, as Brits in Britain have suffered the same fate. I suppose I am more used to the deprivation, but absence makes my heart grow fonder. What I miss about the good old English pub: Real ale. Peerless beverage. Friendly, welcoming atmosphere, even if one visits alone. Having a game of darts.
  • Stuart

    Dartford

    I am #missingthepub because

they're great, sociable places to be. A good pub is a perfect antidote to the stresses of life. Chums, beer and dry roasted peanuts. What's not to love???
  • Michael Foley

    I am #missingthepub because

Living alone, the pub is a lifeline. If I am stressed or feeling a bit down, a few drinks and a chat with mates always helps. The local is a community hub and when I was self employed I used to pick up a lot of business there.

various #pubs actually as #LiveMusic energises me and musician friends, it feeds our souls. Bands depend on these superb local venues across our country. It's a living for many professional musicians. When pubs reopen I'll enjoy live music at 🎵🎶🎸🥁 @Cavern_SW20 @CabbagePatchPub @NightingalePub @Cross_lances socialising with takeaways to enjoy along Twickenham Riverside, in York House Gardens and Marble Hill Park from @Brewery_Market 🍺 and top #PubGrub from the @barmyarmstw1 🍻 and @TheShack68 who ran #FreeSchoolMeals last winter. I'll meet up with my #RockNRollFamily and friends who I've not been able to spend time with in far too long. The amazing Noel at The Cavern has already digested the latest guidance and rescheduled the gigs for throughout May 🤘🏼🥃🥂🍾

    I am #missingthepub because

it is where I meet friends, catch up with their news, wind down after a busy week at work, have a laugh and in the summer sit out in the pub’s garden soaking up some rays and atmosphere whilst enjoying a good glass of wine or a pint of refreshing beer!
  • Tony Hamshere

    I am #missingthepub because

I live on my own. A pub is an ideal place to go to meet other people, friends or new ones I haven't met yet, in a relaxing environment.
  • BOB

    Otley, Yorkshire

    I am #missingthepub because

all the fabulous publicans of the 22 pubs in the #famouspubtown of #Otley help #OtleyPubClub put on town-wide projects every year, that are based in the pubs and that help bring in tourists and visitors to the town. [Like the photo below taken during the UCI World Road Cycling Championships in 2019.] I can't wait to get organising again and to see all those happy smiling faces in every one of the town's pubs! [The only problem when you're #missingthepub is deciding which one to visit first when they re-open!]
  • Alastair Kerr

    Gloucester

    I am #missingthepub because

for the people, friends and community it is. Pubs and the hospitality sector are a huge part of my life, not just because I have had the fantastic opportunity to manage some of Gloucestershire's finest free houses. I miss the buzz of working a busy bar, talking to customers and catching up with friends! Pubs are the backbone of our communities and are part of the solution, not the problem! Also you can't beat a great pint of real ale in a pub, can you?
  • Dawn

    Norwich

    I am #missingthepub because

The pub has been my life for 2 decades and I'm really missing my pub family. I'm missing the laughter, I'm missing the stories, I'm missing the banter, I'm missing the celebrations, I'm missing the parties & I'm even missing the bad jokes! And I can't wait to be back behind the bar!
  • Greg Mulholland

    Otley, Yorkshire

    I am #missingthepub because

I'm missing everything about pubs, my fantastic locals and pubs that I visit when away with work or on holiday. I love walking but it’s not the same without a pub visit! Our pub culture is unique and very special and we must fight to preserve it. I'm really #missingthepub and look forward to my first post lockdown pint!
