Georgette Way

I assist my husband with the running of a multi-award-winning private members club. We have been there for 15 years. I generally do the behind the scenes stuff – anything goes really. One day I can be up to my ankles in a flooded ladies loo, mopping up and the next I can be in the kitchen, or helping set up a beer festival. Variety is the spice of life and you need to be flexible in the licenced trade!

I spent many of my former years working in the hotel and catering industry and where I worked in all aspects of the trade, from conference and banqueting, sales, event co-ordination/organisation and management. It’s a great business and no one day is ever the same.

I am a lifelong supporter of pubs and over the past few years have become more aware of the challenges facing the licensed trade and the threat these challenges make to the livelihoods of those who work in it.
My real soap box issue it the closure of pubs and the rate at which we are losing them and I am keen to see an end to this.
